Gerald Welsh, MS, MDiv.

Counseling and psychotherapy provide a means to access those resources to live in greater harmony with ourselves and others. I have hope for each person because I am optimistic that we can discover the inner and outer resources present for each of us,” - Gerald “Rick” Welsh. Rick is available to assist you in discovering your unique way of making the changes you desire to make in your life.

Gerald “Rick” Welsh spent many years in business, working with people from various cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. During those years, he completed academic work and earned two master’s degrees, one in religion and the other in counseling and human relations. While he had opportunities to specifically express the results of that education in various volunteer work, when his career in the business world ended, he could focus more fully on a different vocation involving work with people in counseling and psychotherapy.

Rick has experience working with teenagers and adults. He has worked at the Philadelphia Psychiatric Center and has been responsible for starting and facilitating men’s groups in Pennsylvania. He is a pre-licensed clinician and a member of the American Counseling Association. He is in the process of completing his Licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). He has experience working with various mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, substance abuse, and family conflict. He also has experience working with clients struggling with communication difficulties, phobias, self-esteem, stress management, grief, and loss. He believes in helping people become autonomous and self-reflexive and learn to manage their emotions better. He strongly emphasizes building a caring and supportive therapeutic relationship and works collaboratively towards client-centered goals. He utilizes various techniques from an integrative therapeutic approach tailored to each individual’s needs. He is committed to providing a safe space for his clients to be curious, explore, and grow.

Rick is married and has two daughters, five grandchildren, and two cats. He is available to work with you in Telehealth therapy or in therapy in person at our Allentown office.
