4 Negative Self Talk Statements Rooted in Past Trauma

4 Negative Self Talk Statements Rooted in Trauma

1. I should only trust myself.

2. I must not feel or show emotions.

3. I will never heal, it is taking too long.

4. I always choose the wrong partners.

1. I should only trust myself.

As humans, we are not meant to live a life of solitude. It can be sad and lonely to feel like the people around you are not trustworthy and that you are unable to reach out for help and support.

2. I must not feel or show emotions.

Emotions are normal for all humans. Emotions are not negative or positive. If you were denied to feel your full range of emotions as a child, it's okay to build a support system now where you can feel your full range emotions in a safe space.

3. I will never heal, it is taking too long.

Healing past trauma is an ongoing process and it takes time, a lifetime for some. Where you are now is well enough. Remember to practice self-compassion for each version of yourself.

4. I always choose the wrong partners.

We often choose partners that are familiar to us. So people often realize that they find familiar traits to people from their past in people they are currently choosing. Breakups happen, and it's okay to learn from each situation and learn to use judgment about if a person is good for you or not.
